The electric Mercedes C-Class is now available to order in Spain, giving Mercedes-Benz a direct new rival to the upcoming BMW i3 sedan. The C 400 4MATIC electric version starts from €69,800 in the Spanish market.

What Mercedes Has Introduced
Mercedes-Benz is moving one of its most important sedan names into the electric era. The new C-Class Electric is not simply a gasoline C-Class with batteries added. According to KM77, it uses a dedicated electric platform related to the electric GLC, rather than replacing the combustion C-Class directly.
The first version listed in Spain is the C 400 4MATIC electric. Mercedes-Benz Spain says it produces 360 kW, or 489 hp, with 800 Nm of torque and all-wheel drive. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4 seconds and has a top speed of 210 km/h.
Electric Mercedes C-Class Range and Charging
The electric Mercedes C-Class is listed with a 94 kWh usable battery and a WLTP range of up to 743 km. Mercedes-Benz Spain also indicates a combined energy consumption of 14.6 kWh/100 km.
Charging is another key part of the car’s positioning. The model supports DC fast charging at up to 330 kW, with a 10% to 80% charge time of 22 minutes under suitable conditions. Mercedes also says the car can recover between 250 km and 325 km of WLTP range in 10 minutes of DC charging.
A 39-Inch Screen and Cloud-Linked Suspension
Inside, the model’s most visible technology feature is the optional 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen. Motorpasión reports that the display stretches across much of the dashboard and uses more than 1,000 LEDs for backlighting.
The car also introduces comfort technology designed for real-world roads. According to Motorpasión, its optional adaptive air suspension can use cloud-connected data from other Mercedes vehicles to prepare for bumps or speed humps in the same location. This means the system may adjust before the car reaches a known road imperfection.
Why It Matters for the BMW i3 Rivalry
The timing is important because BMW is preparing the new i3 sedan as part of its Neue Klasse generation. BMW Spain says the new BMW i3 sedan will be available from autumn 2026, with preliminary WLTP range of up to 900 km for the i3 50 xDrive sedan.
That makes the electric Mercedes C-Class part of a new premium EV sedan battle. Mercedes appears to focus on comfort, cabin technology and luxury features. BMW, meanwhile, is promoting long range, driver-focused design and its new-generation electric platform. For buyers, this competition could bring better charging speeds, smarter interiors and more refined electric sedans.
What to Keep in Mind
The Spanish price gives the electric Mercedes C-Class a clear market position, but final buying decisions will depend on equipment, options and real-world charging conditions. Details such as the Hyperscreen, air suspension and rear-axle steering may also depend on configuration.
For now, the electric C-Class shows how premium sedans are changing. Range and performance still matter, but software, connected comfort and digital cabin design are becoming just as important.
